Memaloose Moment

Last week Ken and I went for an afternoon hike in the Mt. Hood Wilderness. We spent an hour and a half driving around forest service roads before we finally found the trailhead to Memaloose Lake. (Note to self: get a new map of the area!) We quickly hiked up to the lake, snapped a few photos, had a snack, then headed out again before the sun went down.

Just a note to call your attention to a new widget on my sidebar to direct interested persons to my Fine Art America page where prints or cards of my artwork can be ordered in different sizes. If you have a favorite painting that isn't listed, let me know and I'll add it. The images I have listed so far are from my Oregon City series. Have fun looking!

Elevator Afternoon in July

Last week while walking past the elevator I was delighted to see Queen Anne's Lace blooming! I pulled out my camera for a quick snapshot, then realized the batteries were still charging at home. Good thing my cell phone can also take a decent photo reference. :)

On a Day Like Today

A few weeks ago I was strolling near the Promenade in OC when I noticed this fellow taking an afternoon snooze under the oaks on the bluff. Who could resist snapping this "Norman Rockwell" moment? Not me. Here's a little pastel painting of the scene.

Pepper Daisies with Pebbles

The title kind of sounds like a recipe, doesn't it? Today I poked daisies into a bright red pepper and decided to use my pastels in a more "painterly" way. I really like the results.

Fuschia Boat

I get funny ideas sometimes, and since I find them amusing, I try to paint them. Here is a fuschia stem stuck into a banana with a few pebbles around. Maybe you will smile like I did.

40th Anniversary

I had SUCH a wonderful time with my family these past two weeks! What a whirlwind of activity, hugs and giggles. On June 29th my husband and I commemorated our 40th anniversary and were given these lovely flowers by the kids. The day after everyone left I took them outside to photograph them in the sun so that I could paint them soon. But FIRST, I had to put my studio back together! (It's been a child's room during our reunion.) Finally, I got out my pastels and got to work. It's nice to be back.
