Checking Out...

Sorry, art fans, but I'm a bit distracted this week. My little studio corner sits quietly, waiting.....

We have a family reunion beginning a few days from now and I am in preparation mode. My studio is getting packed away temporarily to become a little girl's room for two weeks. For those who don't know us personally, we have five grown children, who are all married, and there are currently 11 grandchildren. Fun times ahead! Maybe I'll have a chance to do a some outdoor art with the kids and I can post all the results here. My backpack art kit will be ready just in case. I'll be back at the easel when the dust settles!

Promenade by the Falls

When I walked here a couple of weeks ago, I loved the look of the clouds above this springtime scene. Again, I am using orange paper to contrast with the greens and blues. What do you think?

The Dalles Mountain View

Coming back from a recent roadtrip I snapped this photo reference of Mt Hood as we drove west along the freeway outside of The Dalles. When we travel, I'm always wishing we could stop every mile or so to paint something. Sigh. I have to make do with waving my little point-and-shoot towards the interesting scenery or we would NEVER reach our destinations!

Roadtrip Sunset

Have you ever seen a sunset that nearly took your breath away? Yes, just like the one you are thinking of! Our memorable sunset was photographed as we sped along the freeway heading to Utah a couple years ago. It was awesome!

Foxglove in the Garden

Every time I look out my kitchen window this little scene of the rhododendron and foxglove tempts me. Today I made a little painting of it so it will leave me alone. Ha ha! (They will be finished blooming soon anyway, but I'm glad I got this one done.)

Peonies in Sunlight

I picked a bunch of peonies and put them in a vase on the back porch for a very impressionistic painting today. It's a fun way to paint with my pastels, when I don't stop to worry about details.
